In a significant development, a new Amrit Bharat train is set to connect Malda to Bengaluru at an affordable fare of just Rs 500. The inaugural journey is scheduled for Saturday, December 30th, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the train from Uttar Pradesh. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother travel for individuals from Malda and nearby districts, catering to various purposes such as employment, medical treatment, and tourism.
BJP MP Khagen Murmu announced in a press conference that the train will depart from Malda for Bengaluru at 8:30 am on Sunday, covering the 48-hour journey and arriving in Bengaluru at 3 am on Tuesday. The move is seen as a response to the demand from the region's residents and will likely benefit a considerable number of migrant workers, patients, and travelers.
