West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of those killed in the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The Chief Minister confirmed the relief during a public address, stating that the government would provide financial assistance to the families of the victims. She mentioned that she had spoken to the parents of Bitan Adhikary, one of the victims, and ensured that they would receive a monthly pension of Rs 10,000, as they are elderly. Additionally, Bitan’s parents and wife will each be given Rs 5 lakh in compensation. The families of the other two victims from Behala and Purulia will also receive Rs 10 lakh each.
The Chief Minister further assured that the government would provide employment opportunities for any family members who wished to take up a job. Mamata Banerjee also mentioned her conversation with the wife of a paramilitary personnel who died in Udhampur, assuring that the government would offer her a job and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh. The Chief Minister concluded by announcing plans to visit Murshidabad, where she will distribute compensation to the three affected families.
