Mamata Banerjee on Saturday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was hatching a “cruel plan” against her ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Speaking at an election rally in Purulia, the Trinamool Congress chief warned that she was sensing a conspiracy and cautioned party workers and supporters to remain vigilant.
During her address, Banerjee claimed that attempts were being made to destabilize the state and undermine the democratic process in the run-up to the polls. She alleged that the BJP was trying to influence the electoral atmosphere through various means and urged people to resist such efforts.
The TMC Supremo also criticized actions related to voter lists and administrative changes, claiming they were aimed at manipulating the election process. She alleged that certain measures could lead to voters being removed from electoral rolls and warned that such steps would threaten democratic rights. Banerjee appealed to voters to remain alert and protect democracy during the upcoming election. The West Bengal Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with results expected on May 4.
