West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is taking steps to unite opposition parties against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
In line with this, according to reports, Banerjee is scheduled to meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Kumar is expected to meet Banerjee at her office in the state secretariat “Nabanna”
The meeting is expected to discuss ways to strengthen the opposition alliance and find a common ground to contest the elections together, which is considered a crucial state for the BJP's electoral prospects. Kumar has recently announced plans to launch a nationwide campaign to bring the BJP's opponents together.
This meeting follows Kumar's visit to the national capital, where he met with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. The meeting was considered a crucial first step in establishing a grand opposition alliance ahead of the 2024 elections.
Banerjee's meeting with Kumar follows her recent meetings with other opposition leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav and Naveen Patnaik. These meetings are seen as a part of her efforts to build a strong anti-BJP front ahead of the 2024 elections.
Banerjee is also expected to hold more meetings with other regional leaders in the coming months to further strengthen the opposition alliance.
