Mamata Banerjee and Sourav Ganguly sign MoU with La Liga for football development in West Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and former Indian cricket captain and BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly joined forces during their visit to Spain's Madrid. The purpose of their visit was to engage with officials from La Liga, Spain's premier football league, and sign an agreement for the establishment of a football academy in West Bengal, aimed at nurturing young talent.

In a significant development, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formalized between the West Bengal government and La Liga. The signing took place during a closed-door meeting, which included Chief Minister Banerjee, La Liga president Javier Tebas, Sourav Ganguly, and representatives from Kolkata's renowned football clubs such as Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, and Mohammedan Sporting Club.

As part of this collaborative effort, La Liga coaches will impart their knowledge and expertise to West Bengal coaches and players, contributing to the growth and self-sufficiency of football clubs in the state. The exchange of insights and training resources is expected to elevate the level of football talent in West Bengal.

La Liga, home to renowned football clubs such as Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, will play a pivotal role in this collaboration, fostering football development and nurturing young talents in West Bengal.
