Mamata Banerjee announces 6 Volvo bus service daily from 6 North Bengal districts to Digha

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that starting Tuesday, six Volvo buses will operate daily from six districts in North Bengal—Siliguri, Malda, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Raiganj—to Digha. The service aims to provide easier access for residents of North Bengal to visit the Digha temple and enhance connectivity between these regions.

During an industrialists’ meeting in Siliguri, Mamata Banerjee emphasized the importance of supporting various sectors including small and cottage industries, tourism, food processing, and the tea industry. She also advocated for the creation of an industrial park in Cooch Behar to promote industrial development in the region.

The Chief Minister directed the formation of a core committee under the leadership of Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, comprising selected industrialists. This committee is tasked with ensuring that the industrial sector faces no obstacles and that industrial growth in North Bengal proceeds smoothly.

The state government organized a business summit in Siliguri, attended by industrialists and entrepreneurs from eight districts. The focus of the summit was to discuss ways to accelerate industrialization in North Bengal, utilizing the state’s land bank and skilled labor force.

Mamata Banerjee stated that both heavy and small industries are important for the state’s economic growth, highlighting that small industries generate significant employment opportunities. The government plans to give equal importance to all industry types to further strengthen the region’s economy.
