West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee assured that Ram Navami celebrations in the state would be conducted peacefully. Addressing a press conference from Nabanna, she stated, “I respect all religions, and all religious ceremonies will take place peacefully.” She reiterated that she has never supported violence and called for maintaining harmony during the festivities.
Banerjee also announced the formation of a task force before her departure, ensuring smooth governance in her absence. She said that four to five ministers, including Chandrima Bhattacharya, Shashi Panja, Aroop Biswas, Firhad Hakim, and Sujit Bose, would oversee administration at Nabanna. Additionally, senior leaders Subrata Bakshi and Abhishek Banerjee will handle Trinamool Congress affairs. She criticized misinformation campaigns targeting her and claimed that some groups were spreading false narratives against her through WhatsApp and emails.
The Chief Minister accused the BJP of communal politics and alleged that attempts were being made to defame Bengal. She stated, “I never seek publicity. Many of my acquaintances abroad send me updates.” Banerjee also highlighted concerns about farmers’ voices not being heard in the country and said, “There is no cure for jealousy.” She reaffirmed that any protests against her would not affect her commitment to representing Bengal.
