West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hailed the Congress-JD(S) alliance's victory in the Karnataka Assembly elections as a mandate for change.
In a tweet on Saturday, Banerjee congratulated the people of Karnataka for giving a decisive mandate in favour of change, adding that "brutal authoritarian and majoritarian politics" had been defeated. She also noted that when people want to win pluralism and democratic forces, no one can suppress their will, and the Karnataka election result was a message for the future.
The Congress party secured over 113 seats in the Karnataka Assembly elections, crossing the magical figure needed to form the government. In contrast, the BJP's seat count fell below 100. The Congress's victory led to celebrations at its offices across the country, while non-BJP political parties took the opportunity to taunt the BJP.
