Mamata Banerjee launches Rs 117 crore healthcare, industrial, and transport projects in North Bengal

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced multiple development projects during her three-day visit to North Bengal. At the Videocon ground near Fulbari, she detailed the construction of a 30-bed rural hospital in Banarhat block with an estimated cost of ₹30 crore. Additionally, ₹28 crore will be spent on upgrading the hospital in Dhupguri. The Dabgram Industrial Park is set to receive ₹29 crore in funding. Furthermore, six Volvo buses were introduced to enhance connectivity between North Bengal and Digha.

The Chief Minister stated, “The central government is not providing funds for development, but the state government remains focused on the growth of the region.” The state government has reopened several tea gardens and is working towards reopening those still closed. Wages for tea garden workers have been increased, and they are being provided with electricity, ration, and medical facilities.

To support women tea garden workers, 22 childcare centers (crèches) have been established in Alipurduar district and 25 in Jalpaiguri district. The North Bengal Industrial Conference has received several proposals that are expected to accelerate regional development. An international convention center will be constructed near Uttarayan in Siliguri on 18 acres of land at a cost of ₹10 crore.

Mamata Banerjee also highlighted the government’s focus on the development of small industries. She emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the state and stated that the Trinamool Congress government is committed to this objective.
