West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued a warning on Monday, asserting that if the BJP emerges victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, free ration distribution will cease. Speaking at a public distribution event in Jalpaiguri district, Banerjee criticized the BJP for not fulfilling its commitment to reopen five closed tea gardens in the Darjeeling hills.
In response, she pledged to acquire six closed tea gardens and directed the district administration to expedite the distribution of land rights documents (pattas) after reviewing the status of surplus land in closed tea gardens.
