Mamata Banerjee opts out of Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya on January 22

The consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22, is gaining momentum as preparations enter the final stages. However, reports indicate that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided not to attend the inauguration.

While the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is yet to make an official announcement, sources suggest that this move is aimed at avoiding involvement in the BJP's political narrative surrounding the event. TMC believes that the BJP may leverage the Ram temple inauguration for its 2024 Lok Sabha campaign, a strategy the party is not willing to be a part of.

This decision aligns with Mamata Banerjee's emphasis on separating religion from political gains. It is noteworthy that CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury had earlier declined the invitation, echoing a similar sentiment.
