In a surprising turn of events, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who previously declared that the INDIA bloc would postpone the decision on its Prime Ministerial candidate until after the Lok Sabha elections, made a U-turn today by proposing Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge for the position. The proposal was reportedly put forth at the ongoing meeting of the Opposition bloc.
Sources reveal that despite Mamata Banerjee's unexpected endorsement, Mallikarjun Kharge has politely declined the nomination.
