Mamata Banerjee set to join the CJP protest in Delhi on Monday

Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to travel to New Delhi on Monday to express solidarity with the student-led 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) protesting at Jantar Mantar. The non-political youth organization has been staging continuous demonstrations in the national capital over alleged question paper leaks and systemic corruption in the NEET examinations. The decision follows statements made during her recent address on July 21, where she voiced support for national student movements and pledged to join the agitation in person if necessary.

The ongoing youth movement at Jantar Mantar gained national attention following a 26-day hunger strike by educationist and activist Sonam Wangchuk. Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh visited Wangchuk at a Gurugram hospital late Thursday night to end the fast after negotiating preliminary conditions. Subsequently, CJP representatives submitted a formal charter of demands to Minister Nadda, setting a firm deadline for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the examination irregularities.

Banerjee’s planned visit aligns with growing opposition mobilizations and nationwide student solidarity marches, including recent Left-led rallies across Kolkata. The TMC supremo previously condemned police actions against student demonstrators in Delhi, describing the administrative measures as unacceptable. While her arrival in New Delhi on Monday is confirmed, party sources have not officially clarified whether she will address the gathering or join the sit-in demonstration directly at the protest venue.
