West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched the Khelashri Project, providing a monthly allowance to 1567 former players starting from September 1. Emphasizing her solidarity with athletes, the Chief Minister expressed that, had she been a player, she would have triumphed over adversities.

As part of this initiative, an honor fund of approximately Rs 7 crore was distributed among 322 players, accompanied by the announcement of job opportunities for interested individuals within the sports community.
