No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she would not comment on Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. When asked about reports and speculations concerning his health, she said, “Jagdeep Dhankhar’s health is perfectly fine.” She added, “I won’t say anything. No one should create or spread false reasons.”
Banerjee made the remarks during a press briefing where she announced several welfare initiatives, including the launch of the Amader Para, Amader Samadhan programme from August 2. The programme will run for two months, with a 15-day break during Durga Puja. According to her, each locality will receive Rs 10 lakh for addressing small-scale civic issues. She said the state has 80,000 booths, and the scheme will operate across all of them, covering one para for every three booths.
She also criticised the central government for withholding Bengal’s dues and questioned the alleged interference of other states in Bengal’s affairs. Referring to two letters, one from Assam and another from Haryana, she claimed district officials of multiple Bengal districts were asked for information. Without naming the Prime Minister, she said, “Handle your own state, there is no need to look at Bengal.”
