The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government has taken the Sandeshkhali case to the Supreme Court, challenging the Calcutta High Court's directive for a CBI investigation. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi presented the petition before the Supreme Court, prompting the court to advise mentioning it before the Registrar General for further consideration.
In response to the Sandeshkhali case and the assault on ED officials, BJP's Amit Malviya remarked, "Mamata Banerjee government was treating Shahjahan Sheikh like a VVIP. BJP's fight to reclaim Bengal will continue till Criminals like Sokat Mollah, Jahangir Khan, and others, who run crime syndicates for TMC and harass the poor, do not meet the same fate as Sheikh."
