Sudip Bandyopadhyay gets Y-category security; Central forces deployed at NCPI office
Trinamool Congress (TMC) councilor Kajri Banerjee, who is also the sister-in-law of party supremo Mamata Banerjee, attended an official municipal council program presided over by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarters on Monday afternoon. She was seated prominently in the front row.
When questioned regarding her attendance, Kajri Banerjee explicitly downplayed any political angle and said that the event was about administrative efficiency and civic responsibility. She stated that the Chief Minister extended an inclusive invitation to opposition councilors to discuss strategic plans and streamline citizen services for the remainder of their municipal tenures. Expressing her appreciation for the gesture, Banerjee remarked that it felt genuinely positive to see the Chief Minister proactively engage with opposition representatives to ensure local governance continues without institutional gridlock.
Apart from Kajri, notable TMC councilors in attendance included heavyweights Debashis Kumar, Ananya Banerjee, Asim Basu, and Jui Biswas. The visiting councilors maintained a unified stance, collectively emphasizing that the assembly was completely non-political and served strictly as a professional platform to share structural ideas, exchange blueprints, and prioritize the immediate welfare of Kolkata's residents.
