West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to visit Patna on June 22 to participate in a grand meeting of opposition leaders scheduled for June 23. During her visit, she will first visit Rabri Devi's residence to meet RJD supremo Lalu Prasad. This meeting holds significance as Mamata Banerjee has not met Lalu Prasad since his kidney transplant. Prior to this, they had met once at 10, Circular Road.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's scheduled visit to Chennai to meet Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin had to be canceled due to health reasons. In his place, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was sent to represent him.
The opposition solidarity meeting in Patna has been hailed as a matter of pride for Bihar by Finance Minister Vijay Chaudhary. The meeting aims to strategize for national politics and is considered a historic event. The presence of opposition leaders coming together instills hope among the citizens, fueling aspirations to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Parties have expressed their determination to contest the elections jointly.
In preparation for the meeting, 20 officers from the Bihar Administrative Service have been deployed to ensure law and order maintenance during the event. The General Administration Department issued a notification regarding their deputation from June 21 to June 24.
