Draftsman Tushar Roy was kidnapped on Wednesday morning around 10:25 AM from a paddy field in Baguiati. CCTV footage reviewed by police showed that the kidnappers were aware of Roy’s routine, as they had parked their vehicle in advance on the same street he regularly used. As Roy walked toward Baguiati, a man in a white shirt held his pants from behind, and another in a blue shirt with a cloth covering his face dragged him into a waiting car. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Following a complaint filed by Roy’s wife, police from Baguiati police station initiated an investigation. They analyzed CCTV footage from the area and identified the registration number of the car used in the abduction. Based on this evidence, investigators tracked the vehicle to Mohanpur in Barrackpore. Upon reaching the location, police successfully rescued Tushar Roy and took all four accused into custody.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Swapna Barman, Narayan Biswas, Raju Dutta, and car driver Sheikh Sourav Das. All four were presented before the Barasat court on Thursday. Police officials have confirmed the arrests and the recovery of Roy, and stated that further investigation into the motive and planning behind the kidnapping is underway.
