Parade begins at Red Road to celebrate India's 76th Republic Day
A molestation incident occurred aboard a Kolkata Metro train during the morning rush hour on the route between Dum Dum and Kavi Subhash stations. The incident took place between Shobhabazar Sutanuti and Shyambazar stations, when the train was heavily crowded with commuters. The woman, who was traveling at the time, reportedly screamed out, accusing a young man of touching her inappropriately while navigating the crowded space.
The accused, confronted by the woman, was reportedly questioned by nearby passengers. He claimed that his hand had been placed on his bag and denied any intention of touching the woman. Despite this, the passengers insisted on removing him from the train. According to witnesses, the man was physically removed from the train after a brief altercation, during which he was allegedly slapped by some commuters.
At present, there is no official confirmation about whether the woman has filed a formal police complaint. Kolkata Metro authorities have not issued a statement regarding the incident. The ongoing issue of overcrowding in metro trains during peak hours continues to raise concerns about commuter safety. The metro system has seen an increase in reports of harassment, particularly during rush hours, underscoring the need for enhanced monitoring and crowd control measures.
