In a shocking incident from Chetla, Kolkata, a man was arrested for the alleged murder of his brother following a heated argument that turned violent. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 5, 2024, when Chandan Mondal, also known as Bhuto, killed his brother Rup Chand Paik at his residence in Block-4, CIT Housing, Pitambar Ghatak Lane, Chetla.
According to the police, the two brothers were drinking together when the argument erupted. Rup Chand allegedly insulted Chandan’s estranged wife, who had left him about a year ago. Enraged by the remarks, Chandan attacked his brother with a chopper, fatally striking him on the head.
Lal Chand Paik, another brother of the victim, filed a complaint at Chetla Police Station, leading to an immediate investigation. The police arrested Chandan Mondal outside his residence, seizing the weapon used in the crime.
The accused, Chandan Mondal, remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
