Police have arrested a man from the New Jalpaiguri police station area on charges of sexually abusing and raping a woman under the pretext of providing medical treatment. The accused has been identified as 61-year-old Nazrul Islam.
According to the complaint, the victim is a resident of the Pradhan Nagar area of Siliguri. She alleged that around eight months ago, she approached the accused seeking medical treatment. During this period, the accused allegedly raped her under the guise of treatment.
The woman stated that due to fear and trauma, she remained silent for several months. After gathering courage, she filed a written complaint at the New Jalpaiguri police station on Monday morning, detailing the alleged assault.
Acting on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested the accused on Monday evening. Further legal procedures in the case are currently underway.
