A shopkeeper in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, was allegedly assaulted by a customer and his friends after addressing the man as 'uncle' in front of his wife. The incident took place in Jatkhedi, where the accused, identified as Rohit, visited a saree shop with his wife. The couple spent a considerable time browsing sarees but hadn't made any selection.
As per the complaint filed, shop owner Vishal Shastri asked Rohit about his preferred price range for sarees. Rohit responded, stating a budget of Rs.1,000 but hinted that he could go higher, cautioning Vishal not to underestimate his spending power. In response, Vishal reportedly said, “Uncle, I will show you sarees in other ranges too.”
The term ‘uncle’ visibly angered Rohit, who warned Vishal not to address him that way. Following a brief argument, Rohit left the store with his wife, only to return shortly after with a group of men. The group allegedly dragged Vishal out of the store, beating him on the road with sticks, belts, and kicking him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Sustaining several injuries, Vishal managed to reach a nearby police station, where he filed a complaint against Rohit and his friends. He was then taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment. Senior police officer Manish Raj Singh Bhadauria confirmed that a case has been registered, and authorities are actively searching for Rohit and his accomplices.
The police assured that all involved would be apprehended soon, as the incident has raised concerns over the escalation of minor arguments into violence.
