Man attacked by neighbours after objecting to loud music at New Town apartment, 7 held

A late-night drinking party in New Town turned violent in the early hours of Sunday after a local resident who objected to loud music was allegedly attacked with a heavy object, leaving him with a serious head injury. The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. at Eco Villa Apartment in Jatragachhi Paschimpara, near Eco Park. Police detained seven people — four men and three women — from the spot following the assault.

According to local information, loud music was being played in one of the flats of the apartment complex while those inside were allegedly consuming alcohol and creating a disturbance. The noise reportedly disrupted the sleep of nearby residents. Shaukat Ali, who lives in the vicinity, went to the flat and asked those present to lower the volume.

It is alleged that the situation escalated quickly after Shaukat raised his objection. The accused allegedly began verbally abusing him before attacking him during the altercation. Eyewitnesses said he was struck on the head with a heavy object, causing him to collapse on the spot with a deep bleeding wound.

Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to help and immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital. Doctors administered six stitches to his head. His condition is currently reported to be stable. The incident has triggered tension and anger among residents of the otherwise calm residential pocket near Eco Park.

A team from Eco Park Police Station reached the scene soon after being informed and conducted a raid at the concerned apartment. Seven persons were detained, and CCTV footage from the premises and surrounding areas is being examined to identify the main accused. Residents have also raised concerns over alleged illegal guest house operations and late-night parties in the rapidly developing New Town area, demanding stricter monitoring to prevent recurrence of such violence.
