Disruption in metro services between Dumdum and Dakshineswar; normal services resume after 2 hours
In a recent incident of disturbing behavior by an intoxicated passenger, a man named Ram Singh was arrested for engaging in indecent acts, including defecation, urination, and spitting, on an Air India flight from Mumbai to Delhi.
The incident occurred on flight AIC 866, prompting the crew members to isolate the accused from other passengers after issuing verbal warnings.
The pilot immediately alerted the airline authorities and requested intervention from security personnel upon the flight's arrival at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Passengers on board the flight were left shocked and disturbed by the unacceptable behavior witnessed during the journey.
Following the landing, the accused, Ram Singh, was handed over to the local police, who escorted him to the nearby police station. Singh has been charged under sections 294 (obscene acts) and 510 (public misconduct) of the Indian Penal Code.
This incident adds to a series of unruly behavior cases involving intoxicated passengers on flights. In November 2022, another incident, widely known as "pee-gate," occurred on a New York-Delhi Air India flight when a passenger named Shankar Mishra allegedly relieved himself on a fellow female passenger. Mishra faced a four-month flying ban imposed by Air India, which led to a legal battle that ultimately unfolded in court.
Only ten days after the "pee-gate" incident, yet another male passenger allegedly urinated on a woman's blanket aboard an Air India flight from Paris to New Delhi, further highlighting the increasing trend of disruptive behavior by inebriated passengers.
