A 40-year-old man, Dipu Sharma, was caught with a gun at the venue of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's program in Bistupur on Thursday.
Bistupur police station, Superintendent Anjani Kumar said that Sharma claimed to have a gun license. The OC said the man was sent home to bring the document.
Even if a person holds a legal license for a gun, he must obtain permission from the local government to carry it in a designated place.
The pistol was recovered by the police while searching the crowd at the gates of Gopal Maidan before the program.
