Man killed, four family members injured in land dispute attack in Sahibganj

A brutal attack occurred early Thursday morning in Hajipur Diara Paschim Tola, a village under Mufassil police station in Sahibganj district, where a man was killed and four others were seriously injured. The victim, identified as Bhup Narayan Rajak, was fatally attacked with sharp weapons, including swords, knives, spears, and axes. The assault took place around 7 a.m. and is believed to be the result of a land dispute that had been ongoing between two local parties.

The conflict began the evening before, on Wednesday, when a minor argument over the allocation of water for irrigation escalated. Despite intervention by locals to mediate and settle the issue, the disagreement reignited the following morning, leading to the violent ambush. Members of one side attacked Bhup Narayan Rajak’s family with weapons, resulting in the fatal injury of Rajak and the severe injuries to his family members.

The injured have been identified as Bhup Narayan Rajak's wife, Sarita Devi, and his sons, Chiku Rajak, Om Prakash Rajak, and Dharmendra Rajak. The victims were initially rushed to local medical facilities. Two seriously injured individuals were taken to Pirpainti Sadar Hospital for treatment and later referred to a higher medical center. The other two victims were admitted to Sahibganj Sadar Hospital.

Upon receiving the news, Mufassil police station in-charge Madan Kumar, along with his team, arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. Sadar SDPO Kishore Tirki also visited the site to monitor the investigation. Authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry and are attempting to identify the attackers involved. No arrests have been made yet, and police are continuing their efforts to apprehend those responsible for the fatal assault.
