"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
A shocking incident of murder has been reported from Bidupur Colony under Jalangi Police Station in Murshidabad, where a 50-year-old man, Shah Jamal Mandal, was allegedly killed by his own brother and nephew over a dispute involving picking brinjals. The tragic event took place on Thursday morning, highlighting an extreme escalation of a minor family argument.
According to villagers, the dispute began when Shah Jamal Mandal was picking brinjals from a tree near his elder brother's house, Nazir Mandal. This action led to a heated argument with his younger brother, Ashraful, and his nephew, Inamul, escalating the situation quickly into violence.
Eyewitnesses recounted the brutal escalation, stating that during the argument, Ashraful and Inamul attacked Jamal, striking him on the head with an iron pipe found nearby. Jamal fell to the ground, bleeding profusely. Family members and neighbours rushed him to the hospital, but physicians there declared him dead. Police have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The accused, Ashraful and Inamul, fled the scene immediately after the attack, and the police are currently engaged in a manhunt to trace and apprehend them.
