A 25-year-old man, Vishal Saw, was beaten to death by three friends in the Subhashpalli Ground area of Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas. The incident took place late Wednesday night after the victim was called outside under the pretext of drinking alcohol.
Police arrested all three accused and launched an investigation. According to reports, Vishal ran a chaat stall and lived with his wife and their two-and-a-half-month-old child. Around 11 PM, his friend Akash Paik called him outside. Akash was accompanied by Rakesh and Rahul. Despite his wife’s objection, Vishal went out. The three allegedly took him to an isolated spot and assaulted him.
He was left critically injured before the accused fled. His family learned about the attack around 1 AM and rushed him to Sonarpur Rural Hospital. Due to his critical condition, doctors referred him to Chittaranjan Hospital, where he died early Thursday during treatment.
Local residents informed the police, who took immediate action. Sonarpur police arrested Akash, Rakesh, and Rahul on charges of murder. The motive behind the attack is under investigation. Officials are questioning the accused and examining call records for further details.
