A 25-year-old student died after she was brutally attacked with a metal rod on her head outside Aurobindo College in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar on Friday, allegedly by a 28-year-old man whose marriage proposal she had rejected.
The woman's body was found next to a park bench with blood pouring from her head and a pole lying nearby. The accused fled the scene after the attack but was arrested hours later, police said.
The accused, identified as Irfan, revealed during interrogation that he attacked the woman when she stopped talking to him after the woman's family disapproved of his marriage proposal, they added.
The victim was going to the park with Irfan when she was attacked. Marks of injuries sustained by a stick were found on her head, a police official said.
The incident took place less than 24 hours after a 42-year-old woman was killed in West Delhi's Dabri by a youth who later killed himself at his residence.
