Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A young man died after being run over by a train near the railway tracks in the Buri Balason area of Gosairpur under Bagdogra Police Station, triggering protests by local residents who alleged negligence by railway authorities. The deceased has been identified as Vijay, a resident of the Gosairpur area.
According to local accounts, the incident occurred when Vijay was struck by a passing train on the railway line. Eyewitnesses said a person first noticed the accident from a distance and raised an alarm. Hearing the shouts, residents rushed to the spot and found the youth’s body lying near the tracks in a severely mutilated condition.
The tragic incident sparked anger among villagers, who accused the railway administration of failing to respond promptly. Locals alleged that even an hour after the incident, no immediate steps were taken to recover the body or manage the situation, and trains continued to pass on the same line.
Residents also claimed that they informed the railway gatekeeper soon after the accident but received no response initially. Following protests and tension in the area, personnel from the Railway Protection Force later reached the spot. Villagers have demanded that the railway and police administration take stronger safety measures and ensure faster response in emergencies.
