The decomposed body of a young man was recovered from inside a box-bed in a private hotel room near Park Street. The gruesome finding, made in a hotel situated on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, has immediately raised suspicions of murder, prompting a high-priority investigation by the Kolkata Police.
The incident was brought to light when hotel staff, after noticing a foul odor emanating from the room and receiving no response from within for over a day, decided to force open the door on Friday morning. The stench led them to the box bed, where they discovered the badly decomposed body, sending shockwaves through the hotel and surrounding area.
According to initial information from hotel and police sources, the identity of the deceased young man remains unknown. Records indicate that he checked into the room on October 22 of the current month. Critically, the room was reportedly checked in under someone else's name, not the deceased, and he was accompanied by others who later left the room.
Police officials initially suspect that the young man may have been murdered on the very day the room was rented out, given the advanced state of decomposition of the body. Evidence suggests he may have been killed one to two days before the discovery, with some reports noting injuries to the head and dried blood on the face.
