The recovery of a decomposed body from a house in Salt Lake’s GC-54 area created a stir among residents on Friday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Sujay Dutta, who was reportedly living alone in the house.
According to local sources, residents noticed a strong foul smell coming from the house around 12:35 pm and immediately alerted the police. Officers soon arrived at the spot and, with assistance from local residents, entered the premises and recovered the decomposed body from inside the house. The body was subsequently sent to Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital.
Police said the body will be sent to RG Kar Hospital on Saturday for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Local sources said Dutta had been suffering from depression for a long time, remained unmarried, and had been living alone in the house for several years.
