Man shoots neighbor over her closeness with his brother

A 24-year-old woman was seriously injured after being shot by her neighbor in Lucknow on Wednesday night in what police suspect was a crime fueled by jealousy and disapproval of a relationship. The accused, identified as Satish Yadav, allegedly barged into her home and opened fire after an argument broke out.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM at the victim’s residence. According to officials, the woman's mother answered the door when Satish Yadav arrived. He allegedly began hurling abuses, and when the woman intervened to defuse the situation, Satish lost control and shot her in the abdomen.

The woman collapsed on the spot and was quickly rushed to King George’s Medical University’s trauma center, where doctors are treating her for serious internal injuries. Her condition remains critical, hospital sources confirmed.

Shockingly, it was Satish’s brother, Sandeep Yadav — the man with whom the woman reportedly shared a close bond — who assisted in taking her to the hospital. Her brother also accompanied them. Police believe this relationship was the primary cause of Satish’s anger.

Satish Yadav fled the scene after the incident, still armed. The police have formed multiple teams to track him down and conduct search operations across the city. Inspector Suresh Singh stated that efforts are being intensified to ensure his arrest at the earliest.

Currently, the woman’s family has not filed a formal written complaint, but police say an FIR will be registered once the complaint is submitted. The case has shocked the local community and raised concerns about rising violence linked to personal disputes.
