A 42-year-old woman died in Kolkata on Sunday morning after she was allegedly stabbed by her husband following a domestic dispute at their residence on Bosepukur Road. The victim, identified as Swapna Singh, was rushed to the OCB ward of CNMC Hospital with a severe stabbing injury but later succumbed to her wounds.
According to preliminary information received around 06:30 hrs on March 29, Singh had been admitted to the hospital earlier at about 05:30 hrs in a critical condition. Medical personnel attempted treatment, but she was declared dead after failing to survive the injury. During questioning, the victim’s daughter told authorities that the incident occurred at around 04:00 hrs inside their residence at 175, Bosepukur Road in Kolkata. She alleged that her father, Binod Singh, assaulted her mother with a knife following a domestic dispute.
Police subsequently apprehended the husband in connection with the incident. Authorities said a specific complaint is being taken from the relatives of the deceased, and further legal proceedings will follow based on the complaint and investigation.
