India beats Bangladesh by 7 wickets in first T20, chase down total in 11.5 overs
In a case of domestic violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, a woman was beaten to death by her husband for not fulfilling dowry demands. Sundar, a resident of Baikheda village, had been married to Meena for two years and had been harassing her for a dowry of ₹3 lakh and a TVS Apache bike.
Meena had been living at her father’s house in Soharka since Rakshabandhan. According to her family, Sundar visited her daily, sometimes even staying for meals. On Sunday night, he took her back to his home, where a confrontation ensued over the dowry issue.
Unable to meet his demands, Meena was brutally assaulted with sticks and then strangled to death. Sundar fled the scene immediately after the crime. Locals informed the authorities, and Meena’s family rushed to the police station, demanding justice. Her father, Vijay Khadak Banshi, filed a formal complaint against Sundar, his mother, sister, and four others involved in the harassment.
A senior police official confirmed that a case has been registered, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused. Meena’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and investigations are ongoing.
