A deadly shooting in a church in Germany's Hamburg has led to the deaths of several people, police officials said. More than one assailant could have been involved in the shooting that took place at 9 PM local time, cops informed. German media reports have claimed that at least 6 to 7 people have died so far while 30 have been victims of the shooting.
"According to first indications, shots were fired in a church in Deelboege street in the Grossborstel district. Several people were seriously injured, some even fatally," police said in a tweet. The police have issued an alert of “extreme danger” in the area to people, using a catastrophe warning app.
Besides cordoning off the surrounding area of the street, the police have asked residents to stay indoors and avoid the area. The police have not confirmed the exact death toll in the fatal incident but Germany’s media has been claiming that at least six have lost their lives.
The shooting has taken place in the Jevonah Witness Hall on Deelboge street in the Gross Borstel district of the city. Members of the Jevonah Witness are part of a Christian religious movement. The headquarter of this religious movement is in New York city in the United States, where it was founded.
