A major fire broke out in a factory located at South Jhaparda in the Rajapur area of Domjur this afternoon, triggering panic among workers and nearby residents. The flames quickly engulfed the premises, spreading fear due to the presence of several adjoining factories.
As the fire intensified, workers rushed out of the building in panic. Many of them initially attempted to control the blaze on their own using basic fire extinguishing equipment, but the fire’s intensity overwhelmed their efforts. The situation became so severe that people started fleeing in different directions to save their lives.
The incident was immediately reported to the Domjur Police Station. Responding swiftly, police officials arrived at the site and alerted the fire department. In response, as many as 15 fire engines were deployed to the location to bring the fire under control.
Firefighters worked tirelessly in challenging conditions, surrounded by flames and smoke, trying to contain the fire from spreading to adjacent factories and properties. The situation was brought under partial control by evening, though cooling operations are expected to continue for some time.
Residents gathered in large numbers, witnessing the massive plumes of smoke rising from the industrial zone. The incident has caused significant panic and disruption in the area, with traffic diverted from nearby roads for safety.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Both the fire department and Domjur police have launched an investigation to determine how the blaze started and whether any safety norms were violated. No casualties have been reported so far, but the extent of the damage is yet to be fully assessed.
