In the early hours of last night, a devastating fire broke out in the Barobisha market located near the Assam border in the district. The fire originated in a clothing store and quickly spread to adjacent establishments, including shops selling clothes, shoes, gold, and mobile repairing services.
Upon receiving the distress call, two vehicles from the Barobisha Fire Brigade promptly rushed to the scene, and soon after, two additional vehicles from Tufanganj joined the firefighting efforts. It took approximately three hours of relentless work before the flames were successfully brought under control on Monday morning.
The incident has resulted in the complete destruction of six shops, leaving behind a trail of devastation in the market.
