A terrifying fire broke out around 10 am today at a paint godown in a multi-storey building in Anandapur Gulshan Colony sending huge clouds of black smoke across the sky. The godown was packed with paint, chemicals, and other flammable items, so the flames grew wild within minutes and started exploding one after another. Loud bangs shook the entire neighbourhood while burning pieces flew and set a nearby under-construction building on fire.
Four fire engines rushed to the spot and have been battling the blaze for more than an hour. Firefighters are using water, foam, and even sandbags to control the fierce flames, but repeated explosions inside the godown are making the job very tough. Cracks have appeared on the building walls, forcing the authorities to quickly empty all nearby houses and high-rises.
Scared families staying near the godown are running out with whatever they can carry while local residents are also helping the fire department constantly to douse off the fire. No casualties has been reported so far, but the damage is already huge. Roads around Gulshan Colony have been engulfed by thick black smoke which has made breathing difficult for people living nearby. Fire officials say they will find out the exact cause of the fire only after it is fully put out.
