Massive fire guts 9 shops in Bangaon, firecracker store escalates blaze

In a devastating incident in Bangaon, located in North 24 Parganas district, a raging fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, reducing nine shops to ashes. The fire, which began in a bag shop near Bata Mor, quickly spread to adjacent establishments, including a firecracker shop, which intensified the blaze dramatically.

Eyewitnesses reported that the flames spread with alarming speed, creating chaos among nearby residents and shop owners. The presence of the firecracker store played a significant role in amplifying the fire, causing explosions and fueling the destruction. The situation grew dire before emergency services arrived.

Upon receiving the alert, three fire engines rushed to the scene. Fire brigade personnel battled the blaze for hours before finally bringing it under control. Their swift response prevented the fire from spreading further, but by then, significant damage had already been done.

As of now, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and the total loss in terms of property and goods is yet to be assessed. Fire brigade officials have launched an investigation into the incident to determine what triggered the fire and whether there were any safety violations. In the aftermath of the blaze, Bangaon Municipality Chairman Gopal Seth visited the site. He spoke with affected locals and shopkeepers, assuring support and swift assessment of the situation.
