Massive fire kills four in Delhi's Sangam Vihar

A devastating fire ripped through a four-storey building in Delhi's Sangam Vihar, claiming four lives and leaving two others injured in a heartbreaking tragedy that has shocked the area. The blaze started at a footwear shop on the ground floor in Tigri Extension, quickly spreading to upper levels and trapping residents inside. Among the dead are building owner Satender alias Jimmy (38) and his sister Anita (40), with three deadbodies found at the scene and one more succumbing to injuries later at the hospital.

The rapid fire engulfed the entire building, sending thick smoke into the sky and creating chaotic scenes as firefighters battled the flames. Delhi Police received an emergency call and rushed to the spot, rescuing two women from the blaze and rushing them to a nearby hospital. One of the injured, Mamta (40), suffered 25% burns and is still under treatment, while the other woman sadly did not survive. Horrific visuals captured by locals showed the building completely consumed by fire, with flames coming out from windows and the structure appearing on the verge of collapse.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly to douse the blaze, but the narrow lanes of the area made access challenging. Crime and forensic teams have inspected the site, collecting evidence to pinpoint the exact cause of the fire, though initial reports points to the ground-floor footwear shop as the fire origin. An investigation is underway, and authorities are urging residents to check their building safety measures. This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of urban fires in densely packed neighborhoods, prompting calls for better fire safety awareness in Delhi.
