A massive fire broke out at a pen manufacturing factory in the Dighirpar area under Falta police station in South 24 Parganas during the early hours of Saturday. Local residents first noticed flames rising from the factory around 2.30 am, after which the fire rapidly intensified and spread across the premises.
Two fire brigade engines rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported and began firefighting operations. Officials said the presence of highly inflammable plastic materials and chemicals used for making pen ink caused the fire to spread quickly, making it difficult for firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
Several houses and shops are located close to the factory, triggering panic among residents in the surrounding area. Police from Falta police station have been deployed at the site, while authorities are assessing the cause of the fire and the extent of damage caused.
