Mumbai Police have busted a massive drug trafficking operation, recovering MD drugs worth over ₹13 crore and arresting five individuals in connection with the case. The operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Zone 6 in coordination with RCF police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
The investigation began in March, when police arrested one of the accused with MD (commonly known as ecstasy) worth ₹4.5 lakh. During interrogation, the accused revealed the names and details of his accomplices, setting off a chain of raids that led to a major breakthrough.
Acting on the lead, law enforcement agencies recently raided a premises in south Mumbai, where they recovered 6.6 kilograms of MD, a synthetic drug with a high potential for abuse. The total street value of the seizure is estimated to be over ₹13 crore, making it one of the significant drug hauls in recent times.
Among the five accused, four are residents of Mumbai, while the fifth hails from Navi Mumbai. All have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
An official from RCF police station said that further investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the drug network and whether there are larger syndicates or international links involved in the case.
