Amid an impasse over the rape-murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, protesting medicos on Monday are attending a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the CM’s Kalighat residence.
This comes after Chief Secretary Manoj Pant sent an email to junior doctors, scheduling the meeting for 5 pm today. Holding a press conference, the doctors demanded “transparency”, asking for the meeting with the CM to be live-streamed or for videography to be allowed. However, both the requests were denied after which the doctors took two stenographers.
The meeting started around 6:40 pm and all the doctors along with stenographers. State Minister of Health Chandrima Bhattacharya, DGP Rajeev Kumar, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant along with other officials are also present at the meeting.
