Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
The Bidhannagar Police intensified their investigation into the Salt Lake Stadium violence by conducting a raid at organizer Satadru Dutta’s residence in Rishra, Hooghly. On Friday morning, a five-member team from Bidhannagar South Police Station, accompanied by female officers and local Rishra police, entered Dutta's lavish "Bangur Park" estate. The three-story mansion, equipped with a private swimming pool and a football field, was thoroughly searched as part of the ongoing probe into the December 13 "Messi Show" chaos.
Satadru Dutta was arrested shortly after the event, where massive vandalism and mismanagement were reported at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. As the primary organizer, he faces charges for the complete collapse of security and order during the high-profile visit. The fallout from the event has already triggered a political storm, leading to the resignation of Sports Minister Aroop Biswas and show-cause notices being issued to the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) and other top officials.
During the search operation, investigators found only a domestic help at the residence. The team spent several hours inspecting various rooms of the luxury house and questioning the staff. Although no documents or items were officially seized during this specific visit, the police indicated that the move was essential for gathering evidence related to the event's planning. An officer leaving the premises stated that the investigation is at a critical stage, and details cannot be disclosed yet.
