The home ministry has sought details from the CAPF director generals regarding the steps taken to fill its vacancies, The Indian Express reported.
Earlier this month, Home Minister Nityanand Rai announced that more than 83,000 posts remained vacant in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), which includes vacancies in the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Assam Rifles.
CRPF, the country's largest paramilitary force, has 29,283 vacancies out of a total of 83,127 posts, followed by BSF (19,987) and CISF (19,475), a report mentioned.
According to Rai, the government is taking steps to fill the vacancies. "The recruitment is on a mission mode to fill these vacancies and it is planned to be completed in 2023," the minister was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express. “It may also be mentioned that between July 2022 and January 2023, 32,181 employees were hired. Further, 64,444 vacancies have been announced which are in various stages of recruitment,” he added.
Furthermore, the minister stated that the growing number of vacancies is causing the reworking of existing employees. The filling of vacancies is a continuous process and the department has taken and will take serious steps to fill up the vacancies through UPSC, SSC and the concerned forces as soon as possible, Rai added.
