Microsoft glitch: Mumbai, Delhi, other airports facing tech issues; IndiGo, Akasa, SpiceJet check-ins affected

A significant outage in Microsoft Corp.'s cloud services on Friday led to widespread flight cancellations and delays across the globe, severely impacting airline operations. In India, airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Airlines, and SpiceJet experienced major disruptions at key airports, including Mumbai and Delhi.

Delhi Airport reported temporary impacts on some services due to the global IT outage, assuring efforts to minimize passenger inconvenience. Official sources at Chennai airport confirmed that routine passenger-centric activities were disrupted due to the 'server outage,' with IndiGo acknowledging the issue with Azure affecting their systems.

Stranded passengers expressed their frustrations on social media, highlighting the inconvenience caused by the outages. One passenger stuck at Dubai airport tweeted about the prolonged delay, while another in Goa recounted the chaos of receiving handwritten boarding passes.

Akasa Airlines announced temporary unavailability of some online services at Mumbai and Delhi airports and advised passengers to arrive early for manual check-in processes. Similarly, SpiceJet and Air India Express issued statements about the technical issues affecting their operations, urging passengers to plan their travel accordingly. The outage not only affected Indian airlines but also caused significant delays and operational challenges for international carriers like Frontier Airlines, Allegiant Air, and Sun Country Airlines.
