A devastating fire broke out at the Baby Care New Born Hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, around 11:30 pm last night, resulting in the deaths of seven infants. The fire rapidly engulfed the facility, prompting an emergency response that saw 16 fire brigade vehicles rush to the scene. Fire personnel managed to rescue 12 newborns from the blaze, but six of the rescued infants succumbed to their injuries during treatment, and a seventh died in the ICU this morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the Delhi government has announced a thorough inquiry into the incident.
According to Delhi Police, the initial call about the fire came at 11:30 pm, leading to immediate action by local authorities, including the SHO and ACP of Vivek Vihar. The rescued infants were transported to East Delhi Advanced NICU Hospital for further treatment, where five are currently receiving care. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to GTB Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Legal action is being taken against the hospital owner, Naveen Kichi, as the government seeks to understand the circumstances leading to this tragic event and to ensure accountability.
