Minor allegedly gang-raped at birthday party in Nadia; Echoes 2022 case in same area

A minor girl has accused five men of gang-rape during a birthday party held at a house in the Bogula area of Hanskhali police station, Nadia district. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday night. The victim lodged a written complaint at Hanskhali police station on Thursday night, leading to the immediate arrest of five accused on Friday. Police have seized the mobile phones of the arrested men and are conducting forensic examinations.

Investigations are ongoing, with police questioning the owner of the house where the party and alleged crime occurred. Authorities are also examining CCTV footage from the premises to gather further evidence. The case is being handled by Hanskhali police as part of their ongoing inquiry into the matter.

This incident bears similarity to a case from April 5, 2022, in the same Hanskhali area, where a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped during a birthday party involving alcohol. In that earlier case, the victim died due to excessive bleeding. The accused included the son of a local political leader. Following a High Court directive, the investigation was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
